At this moment we’re reviewing the first version of Book 1 of the series (the free prequel
being Book 0): Pat is quite busy drawing and redrawing, Dorn is
especially involved with the dialogues and necessary adjustments. A lot
of time was and is invested in documenting ourselves on the historical
facts (contrary to the prequel, which plays somewhere in the 2000s, Book
1 is set during WW II), but we do also need accurate scenery for the
action.
So,
when Rolf Dietrich is “invited” to a certain castle, we visit this
castle, make some photographs, and try to reconstruct how it was in the
past based on these pictures and additional documents. When Rolf’s men
have a beer in an ancient pub, we try sitting down at their table and
feel the atmosphere or what’s left of it. When a treasure is hidden in a
certain place, we drive towards that place and try digging it up …
(Just kidding, but we do document us on that place too. No, really, no
treasure there.)
During our previous trip to the Teutoburgerwald, where we visited the Hermannsdenkmal, Paderborn, the Externsteine, and Wewelsburg, in order to do what we wrote about above, we were followed by our number one fan Arte Misia. She made some pictures of us … making pictures, looking at stuff, or just acting plain crazy. A little selection:
Walking in the Teutoburgerwald
Dorn making things easier
Flying saucers: they do exist !
Is it a bird ? Is it a plane ? It certainly are not the Externsteine !
Being totally zen in some sarcophage at the Externsteine …
Pat not seeing what we see: a nice little rune on a rock.
Pat demonstrating how aslant these Externsteine really are
Documenting ourselves on Rolf’s hotel (see free prequel)
Hmm, did you see those strange markings here ? Could it be a secret message ?
Just around the corner of Gudrun’s residence
Well … just some kind of hippie Hermann with a hard rock guy
Our backs moving towards Hermann’s back
Pat: “Aw, something came falling from the sky !” Dorn: “He threw it !”
Wewelsburg: a little village with a not so little castle and a rather interesting history
Walking around the “burg” acting weird …
Ottens
hof, a pub visited by a number of characters in Book 1 and … by us.
Chinese guy who owns it now is still serving a very nice German meal
(and wok)
